Job Title: Sales Estimator
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Edinburgh with travel as required
Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 + benefits

As a boutique family business based in Newbridge, Edinburgh, they collaborate with architects to design and supply state-of-the-art steel gratings and louvres for wall cladding, screening, balustrading, and fencing. The company history is long, but their spirit is young, fresh, and dynamic!

The Position: Sales Estimator
Are you a driven individual with a knack for blending technical and commercial knowledge? Do you possess excellent communication skills and the ambition to ascend in your career? If so, we offer a permanent position with abundant opportunities for professional growth as a Sales Estimator.

This is a permanent position with considerable responsibility, offering an opportunity for career development for an ambitious Sales Estimator with technical and commercial awareness and excellent communication skills.

The work will cover diverse areas of activity:

  • Handling enquiries from contractors and architects, providing technical information, advising on the development of a design and estimating from tender documents and drawings.
  • It will also involve negotiating and liaising with customers, suppliers and contractors in order to win orders.
  • You need to enjoy being challenged: have self-motivation in abundance and the ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a complex and fast-moving workplace.

Duties will involve:

  • Responding to and monitoring multiple enquiries at any one time, each generally ranging in value from £1,000 to £500,000. This requires strict organisation and attention to detail using thorough documentation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Securing contracts by quoting prices and lead times in co-ordination with suppliers
  • Providing product and technical information in response to telephone/email enquiries
  • Recording and tracking live enquiries
  • Building relationships with customers
  • Close communication with suppliers

 
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should be educated to Degree level or offer equivalent experience in an architectural, engineering or construction related discipline.

Required skills:

  • To manage and balance a busy workload
  • A good telephone manner and clear communication
  • To read and understand architectural drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent Windows skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • To operate a CRM database and
  • Basic CAD
  • Clean driving licence

 
The job is predominantly office based but may require visits to architects and sites throughout the UK. The Company’s order book is dominated by London but covers the whole of the UK and Ireland with some international enquiries.
