Job Title: Financial Accounting Manager
Location: Edinburgh – flexible and hybrid working
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £51,551 – 64,445 + £4,500 car allowance, benefits, and generous pension
AJ Connect is delighted to once again be exclusively partnered with Link Group, an award-winning organisation to appoint a Financial Accounting Manager on a full-time, permanent basis in Edinburgh.
As the Financial Accounting Manager, you will be part of a high-performing team and play a critical role in the strategy, management, development, and delivery of finance services across the Group. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for the Financial Accounting across the Group, including the coordination of financial reporting, consolidation of all Group entities, oversight of tax reporting and submissions, and fixed asset reporting.
In addition, you will ensure the Accounts Payable and Receivable, Shared Equity and Rent processing teams provide a high-quality, customer-focused services to the Group’s 10 subsidiary companies.

Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:
- Lead, manage and develop the Finance Operations team
- Manage financial accounting of all entities across the Group
- Develop and improve financial reporting and achieve greater efficiencies and automation from finance systems
- Ensure consistency in accounting policy and produce monthly and quarterly financial accounting timetable
- Ensure all balance sheet control accounts across the group are reconciled on a regular basis
- Oversee submission of external financial reporting, including statutory accounts, lender covenant compliance, and regulatory financial returns
- Responsibility for all fixed asset records across the Group
- Co-ordinate and prepare the consolidated management accounts and annual statutory financial statements for the Group of companies
- Manage external and finance-related internal audits
- Ensure VAT compliance and submission of returns within timescales
- Procure VAT/Tax services and coordinate completion and return of all corporation tax returns across the Group
- Ensure adequate insurance cover for the group’s operations on a value-for-money basis
- Provide support to the Treasury Manager as required.
Experience and Skills required:
- Qualified accountant with a recognised accounting body (e.g., ICAS, ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience and knowledge of statutory consolidated financial accounting and external audit
- Proven experience in a financial or management accounting role
- Experience leading and managing teams in a finance setting in a multi-site environment with a strong customer focus
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Pro-active approach to effective risk management and financial control
- Ability to lead and implement change projects and effective working processes and strategies organisation-wide
- Advanced IT skills and excellent knowledge of Microsoft systems (Excel, Word), and software
- Experience in and knowledge of the social housing sector, social care, social enterprise, property, or other voluntary sector organisations would be desirable
- Knowledge and experience of insurance products relating to social housing, and UK tax regimes including VAT, CIS, and CT would also be desirable.
