A unique Finance Data Analyst position with one of Scotland’s largest charities.

Job Title: Finance Data Analyst – Projects & Systems
Location: UK (Remote, ability to travel to Edinburgh)
Contract Type: 12 months Fixed-Term Contract, full-time
Salary: £34,000 – 36,000 + excellent benefits
                                                                                                                                   
AJ Connect is delighted to be partnering exclusively with one of Scotland’s largest Charitable organisations based in Edinburgh to appoint a Finance Data Analyst within the Projects and Systems team on a 12-month FTC, full-time basis. 
  
This role has been created to support the Finance team on a variety of change and sustainability projects, which will support the Charities 10-year strategy.
  
The Finance team in the organisation is made up of three core areas; transactional, controls, and analytics of which each has key continuous improvement projects to deliver covering a variety of disciplines, driving efficiencies, and building stakeholder engagement at all levels. 
  
This role is responsible for working with multiple partners across the organisaiton to scope and deliver data analytics to support change decisions, or measure project performance in addition to enabling greater transparency in control and governance.
  
The successful candidate will be reporting to and working closely with the Finance Manager – Systems and Projects in order to support the delivery of projects and the strategic objectives. 
  
This role will require the successful candidate to have exceptional data manipulation and analytical skills to:

  • Analyse large data sets
  • Create and manage project support documentation
  • Provide periodic MIS data, BAU, projects
  • Ad-hoc reporting and dashboard creation.

  
You will be responsible for:

  • Collect data requirements for the work required and gain a full understanding of the project objective and owning the creation of quality scope and BRD documentation
  • Work with stakeholders to review and devise the project scope and maintain consistent documentation of progress against target timelines using standard project methodology
  • Interpret and incorporate the findings of any external assurance work to the procedures and processes being developed and apply these to data collection, interpretation and reporting undertaken to support the achievement of project objectives
  • Work with Stakeholders to identify data sets to analyse utilising all data streams to inform decisions and identify risk enabling strong mitigation planning to support success in change implementation work
  • Support the development and implementation of the updated processes and make current procedures required to support the delivery of project objectives and support the successful transition to business as usual (BAU) processes
  • Support the development and roll-out the training and guidance materials required for the successful implementation of the project(s) and ensure that these are appropriate for each of the key stakeholder groups
  • Contribute to the delivery of other activities within the project plan(s) as directed by the Finance Manager – Systems & Projects
  • Support the Finance Manager – Systems & Projects in the production of written reports to Steering Committee, ExCo and other Committees providing project progress and exception reports and highlighting any decisions/actions required
  • Active member of the Finance and wider Corporate Services Team.


What you’ll need to succeed in the role:

  • Using integrated, complex systems with significant experience focused on reporting, analysing and interpreting data to inform business processes and decision-making
  • Significant experience in modelling and reporting on large data sets to identify patterns and trends
  • Supporting the identifying, developing, and implementing process change and training to colleagues in the new process
  • Experience of system implementation and post implementation recovery action planning and remediation
  • Engaging and influencing across an organisation to support the delivery of data integrity and compliant control and reporting frameworks
  • Delivering services and/or projects with complex system data flows, significant focus on compliance with regulations, need for robust internal controls and large transaction volumes
  • Demonstrated experience of working within project management frameworks to deliver complex projects.

  
Skills & Knowledge

  • Exceptional computer literacy skills; an advanced user of spreadsheets; and ability to adapt quickly to new packages and other information technologies and systems
  • Exceptional data analytical and numerical skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills especially the ability to present complex information in an understandable and engaging manner, and ability to influence stakeholders across the organisation
  • Up-to-date professional and technical knowledge, proactive horizon scanning for changes in legislation, best practice processes and techniques, with the ability to interpret and apply these principles and advise
  • Ability to work under pressure, juggling conflicting priorities, managing change, and delivering to tight deadlines without compromising accuracy and quality of work.
