Job Title: Finance Business Partner
Location: Edinburgh – flexible and hybrid working
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Hourly Rate: £45,000 – 53,000 + benefits, generous pension

AJ Connect is delighted to be partnered with an award-winning Public Sector organisation to appoint a Finance Business Partner on a full-time, permanent basis in Edinburgh.
This is a critical position within the Finance team where you will provide a business partnering service of financial reporting, business strategy, budgeting services, strategic planning, and general financial advice. You will also present financial information to the Board of Management of your designated portfolio.
The Finance Business Partner will operate as part of the management teams of a cohort of clients. You will work closely with the relevant Directors, Managers, and budget holders. You will have a deep understanding of the business plans provided by the subsidiaries, and business units supported and will provide financial advice, support, and solutions to achieve business objectives.
Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Carrying out all accounting services including management accounts, annual statutory financial statements, budgets, and financial projections
  • Providing support and advice to the business e.g., tender submissions, funding applications etc.
  • Preparing and presenting financial information
  • Working closely with colleagues, participating in external and internal audits
  • Supporting the wider Finance Business Partnering team to create and support a framework of effective communication
  • Working closely with colleagues, participating in provision of training
  • Working closely with colleagues to create and support a framework for providing cover for other Business Partners
  • Carrying out ad hoc and project work when required.

Experience and Skills required:

  • Part-Qualified – ICAS, CCAB, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT, or equivalent
  • Qualified Accountant – ICAS, ACA, ACCA, CIMA – desirable
  • Proven experience in a financial or management accounting role
  • Proven experience of statutory financial reporting and audit
  • Experience of building successful relationships
  • Proven experience of providing Finance Business Partner advisory service
  • Experience of reporting and presenting to Board or Committee meetings
  • Excellent IT skills – MS Excel, Word, and accounting software packages
